How to Use the Position Size Calculator

Enter your total trading capital, the risk percentage per trade, entry price, and stop-loss price. The calculator determines the ideal number of shares or units to buy. This is essential risk management for every trader in the Indian stock market.

Example Position Sizing

If you have a trading capital of Rs 2,00,000 and risk 2% per trade (Rs 4,000), with an entry price of Rs 500 and stop-loss at Rs 475 (Rs 25 risk per share): your position size would be Rs 4,000 / Rs 25 = 160 shares, requiring Rs 80,000 capital. Never risk more than 1-2% of your capital on any single trade.

Frequently asked questions

What is position sizing?

It limits the amount you can lose on a trade by matching quantity to a predefined risk amount.

Does this guarantee a maximum loss?

No. Gaps, slippage, liquidity and execution can cause losses beyond a stop-loss level.
